Policies
Independence is the key to making a change for the better.
With forty (40) years business management experience, Greg Petty knows that infrastructure and solid economic analysis is critical to the financial growth and stability of our community.
As a resident of Helensburgh, he has been active in defending the natural resources of our pristine bushland and protecting the Royal National Park and Sydney's water catchment area (including Woronora Dam).
As the Member for Heathcote Greg will work to ensure that: -
Locally
- Our pristine forests are free from Coal Seam Gas mining and a Power Station
- Port Kembla is properly utilised through improved infrastructure (I support the Dombarton - Maldon Rail link)
- Increased public transport
- Improve road to Helensburgh Station to protect School children and travelling residents
Statewide
- The quality and the use of our roads and rail network is improved
- Common approach to transport and not railway verses roads, Covered Coal wagon on railway as per trucks covered loads
- Open and transparent decision making free of political influence
- Fight the sale of the State's electricity poles and wires - maintain the asset and revenue stream
Personally
Greg's long business career and experience as a small and medium business owner coupled with his qualification as an accountant and company secretary in a comprehensive list of areas with an amenity for the environment affords him the ability to make clear and concise decisions based on facts. Greg Petty is committed to listening and he is resolved to find the most effective outcome that will provide a permanent solution to your issues, with an overarching responsibility to a commitment of integrity of office and transparency of decision making.
In September 2011, Greg was elected to Wollongong City Council as a Councillor for Ward 1. He has shown great strength representing the electorate without fear or favour or intimidation.
Greg says:
"I look forward to representing the whole community, from Menai to Wombarra, Bundeena to Darkes Forest. At last residents in the electorate have a candidate prepared to represent the community, small business and the environment with a commitment to full open transparency, honesty and altruistic goals. Through community consultation solutions can be found to any problem, we just need the desire in our Members of Parliament.
Most importantly, I want to hear from you on issues concerning you".
